On September I won a Sigma giveaway and among the prices was the Make me Blush brush kit! You have no idea how happy I was to receive it, it has been in my wishlist for a long long time!
Since Christmas season is not far away (yay!) I'm sure many of you are thinking about what gifts to give and what gifts to ask for or buy for yourselves (you deserve it!) so I thought I'd share my opinion about this product. Wanna know more? Then keep reading...
The brush container open. As you can see it has 2 straps and closes really well, there is no way it'll open up in your purse or suitcase.
The brush container with all the brushes inside it. The information leaflet that came with the set.
Description from Sigma webpage:
Introducing the new 'Make Me Up' collection! Our best selling professional 12 brush kit now comes in beautiful colors and inside a durable and multifunctional container! Besides protecting your brushes, this exclusive container transforms into two stylish brush holders!
My own opinion:
That's true! These 12 brushes are really good quality and, as you can see, the colour is an amazing hot coral! I don't know if it's my monitor but seeing it in Sigma page I thought the colour would be softer, I'm so happy it's not! :D If you are not a colourful person, there is always the Make me Classy set, exactly the same brushes in classic black colour.
The container is very helpful! *For everyday use, it protects your clean brushes from gathering dust.
*While doing your make up, you can either use one end for your clean brushes and the other one for the dirty ones or you can use one holder for face brushes and the other one for eye brushes or anyway you like!
*And of course it's perfect for traveling! Although these brushes are not travel size ones, you can still carry them with you thanks to this container!
Now, let's move to each brush. Face brushes first
Large Powder - F30
Sigma says: Very dense with a rounded top. Ideal to apply powder products on face and body. Natural bristles.
I say: Big and fluffy, perfect for face powder. Soft but it could be softer. It lost hairs and dye the first times I washed it.
*Tip: I left it in conditioner overnight and it's even softer now, try it!
Foundation - F60
Sigma says: Can be used to apply liquid or cream foundation. It is also recommended to apply moisturizers and conceal large areas. Synthetic bristles.
I say: A regular foundation brush, very good quality. No hair or dye loss.
Large Angled Contour - F40
Sigma says: The angled shape makes this brush ideal to apply blush or contour shades. Natural bristles.
I say: Perfect for blush and bronzer. It lost a few hairs but no dye. I was afraid bronzer would permanently stain the white hairs but after washing it, it looks good as new!
Duo Fibre - F50
Sigma says: Specially designed to generate an airbrushed finish when used to apply liquid foundation. It can also be used to apply blush, highlight shades and loose pigments. Blend of synthetic and natural bristles.
I say: This is a difficult brush for me, I haven't found a good way to use it. I think it's not dense enough for foundation. I believe it would be good for very pigmented blushes or highlights but since I don't have any I can't tell. It loses many hairs and dye through the first washes.
Concealer - F70
Sigma says: The rounded, tapered, flat shape makes this brush ideal to conceal the under eye area. It is also recommended for a precise application in small areas. Synthetic bristles.
I say: I use this for spot concealing but I prefer a fluffier one for the under eye are. I also use it to apply cream eyeshadows. You can use it to apply lipstick too, it works great, no problems.
Smaller brushes are next
Large Shader - E60
Sigma says: Flat shape is ideal for application of cream formulas and eye shadow primers. It also works great with loose eye shadows or pigments. Can be used to apply color all over the lid or precisely on the lash line. Natural bristles.
I say: I use it to apply colour all over the lid. I don't think it's good for pigments, it's too big to give me the control I want with pigments.
Eye Shading - E55
Sigma says: Soft and dense with a rounded finish. Can be used to apply pressed or loose eye shadows and pigments. Ideal to build intense color on the eyelid. Natural bristles.
I say: I agree with everything. A very good quality brush for eyeshadow application.
Medium Angled Shading - E70
Sigma says: Angled, tapered, flat top. Ideal to apply highlight shades underneath the eyebrow and on the inner corners. It can also be used for a precise application of darker shades on the crease area. Natural bristles.
I say: I totally agree.
Tapered Blending - E40
Sigma says: Rounded and tapered top. Specially designed to apply and blend color on the crease. Natural bristles.
I say: It loses hairs and dye the first times you wash it. Very fluffy, perfect for blending even the most difficult colour! I also use it for setting my concealer with powder.
Pencil - E30
Sigma says: Precise application of color on the crease, outer corner, and upper and lower lash line. Also ideal to smudge out pencil liner. Natural bristles.
Small Angle - E65
Sigma says: Essential for the application of gel or cream eyeliner on the upper and lower lash line. This brush is also excellent for filling out the eyebrows. Synthetic bristles.
I say: I totally agree.
Eyeliner - E05
Sigma says: An extra-fine tipped synthetic fiber brush that delivers a precise, firm, even stroke to line the eyes.
I say: I totally agree, no problem with it.
L-R: E25 travel size, E70 from Make me Blush kit, F80 regular line. You can see that the brushes in the kit are a little longer than the regular brushes. Which means your regular Sigma brushes will also fit in the container.
I really really like them! It really is a set of every brush you need. Very good quality, they have paid attention to the details, I'm not sure if you can tell from the photos but the letters on the brushes are written with silver holo paint! I hope it won't fade away, it'll make me so sad.
Now, I know that the price is a little meeh but you can ask 2-3 of your friends or your parents and siblings to get you this instead of 2-3 separate gifts. At least that's what I was planning to do. Or if a friend of yours is into make up, you can ask a couple friends to get this for her instead of separate gifts. I'm 100% sure she will thank you forever! :D
Where can you find it/Cost:
- Sigma website
- It costs 99$ but there are available codes for 10% off so make sure to use one. Plus, you will receive a gift ;)
So, what do you think about Sigma brushes? Which of the Make me sets would you choose?
