It's been quite some time since I've ordered e.l.f. Brightening Eye Color which is basically a 4 eyeshadow palette. I've bought it in 3 colours, Ivy, Blue Moon and Teal Dream. And I gave all 3 of them to my mum as a gift because she needed new eyeshadows and she liked the colours. Yeah, I'm that good! Anyway, I saw them yesterday and thought you'd like a review and some photos.
It comes in a white plastic palette. Each palette contains 4 eyeshadow, a very small mirror and a dual end sponge eyeshadow applicator. Net weight: 0.09oz (2.5g). It can be used for 12 months after opening.
The palettes closed with the (dirty, sorry!) applicators
The palettes open. As you can see below the applicator there is a small mirror
Ingredients(from UK site):
Talc, Mica, Zinc Stearate, Kaolin, Paraffinium Liquidu(Mineral Oil), Petrolatum, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, MethylParaben, Propylparaben, Iron Oxides (CI 77491 , CI 77492 , CI 77499), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Yellow No.5 Lake (CI 19140), Red No.40 Lake (CI 16035), Ultramarine Violet (CI 77077), Blue No.1 Lake (CI 42090)
The actual product
Colour description(left to right, top to bottom): light green, dark green, olive, taupe
Colour description(left to right, top to bottom): champagne, taupe, light blue, denim
Colour description(left to right, top to bottom): champagne, light greige, duochrome blue-gold, green
These eyeshadows are not very pigmented, especially the lighter shades. Not all 4 colours are good but you can definitely find some treasures, as the blue duochrome above. As you can see, the last one is the most pigmented.
They are soft and quite powdery so expect some fallouts. I'd suggest to always use a primer underneath them or the colours are weak. I've used the e.l.f. eyelid primer before I swatched them.
Last but not least:
E.L.F. products are designed in US, made in China and NOT tested on animals.
* Very affordable
* Many colours available (4 shadows * 18 palettes)
* Everyday use
* Small packaging, easy to carry in purse
* Includes applicator and mirror
*The new palettes have better pigmentation that the older ones
* Not very pigmented
* You can't tell if it's good until you try it
* Some people may not like the triangle shaped shadows
Would I buy it again?
I'd buy the new palettes, they have more pigmented and unique colours.
